AlertEnterprise exhibited its Critical Infrastructure and Chemical Security solutions in Baltimore. This year’s chemical sector security summit drew more than 400 participants for a two day event. The summit provides a forum for Department of Homeland Security Officials and the private sector to share information regarding the latest security challenges and solutions. AlertEnterprise showcased its CFATS compliance management solutions which help to play a pivotal role in enhancing the security of our national chemical facilities and other critical infrastructure.

Michael Rasmussen, President of Corporate Integrity LLC presented with Jasvir Gill, CEO of AlertEnterprise Michael Rasmuseen discussed to the evolution of the Governance, Risk and Compliance space while uncovering multiple areas of vulnerability.Jasvir Gill presented a unique risk management capability that aggregates blended threats from IT Systems, Physical Access Control Systems and Critical Control Systems and uncovers previously undetectable risks. The panel discussed the evolution of security threats and proper methodloiges on how to address remediation, most importantly preventation of these cross-country threats such as Bhopal, Satyam, and the Mumbai Terrorist Attacks.

Toronto Hydro IT Security Manager Kshamit Dixit spoke on Plugging the Biggest Hole in Smart Grid Security: Insider Threat - Access to Assets; Encrypting meter data, deploying firewalls and creating security perimeters is not enough. As new technology gets added to the grid, a more insidious risk needs to be addressed – insider threat. Security professionals have long advocated the monitoring of the trusted resources within the company – people with access to control rooms, field supervisors with access to head-ends for meter networks, technicians with full access to generating assets and contractors with access to SCADA devices in remote distribution substations. Who is watching what they’re doing? The damage from a disgruntled employee or an insider with malicious intent can far exceed the network intruder. Toronto Hydro is addressing this problem for the smart gird with an innovative new breed of applications designed to prevent insider threat, detect disgruntled employees and prevent sabotage and theft.
